When the needs of The American Council of Trustees and Alumni (ACTA) exceeded the capabilities of their home grown donor management system, they looked to Pier to refocus their efforts. Pier assessed ACTA's needs, examined existing processes, and negotiated a set of best practices that would act as the foundation for their new approach. Following the assessment, Pier developed a web-based application called Donorbase.

Fundamentally, Donorbase allows ACTA to spend less time dealing with the administrative maelstrom of direct mail fundraising, event management, and grant applications, and spend more time building relationships. DonorBase also increases ACTA's ability to raise capital by incorporating online donations and event registration, and ecommerce into their public facing websites.
