Because interfaces need to be easier to use while applications become more sophisticated, Pier has developed a light-weight session tracking technology for observing and analyzing critical details of user behavior. Codenamed 1984, the program aims to provide more important user experience data than is currently available from any commercial application.

Traditional usage reporting is confined to explicit user actions - successful mouse clicks - leaving all other "in-page" actions completely out of the picture.

1984 will be used in Pier's consulting, design, and development practices to improve interface design, conduct usability testing for all of its UI components, and test and support applications.
